Elgin First United Methodist Church

The community of folks who make up the First United Methodist Church of Elgin welcome you to this website. We are very proud of our church and eager to worship with all. For 102 years we have been worshiping together in this Southwest Oklahoma town near the Wichita Mountains. As time has passed, as the town has changed from a rural community to a burgeoning bedroom community outside of Lawton, the church has remained a place to worship together and build community.

The Elgin church is a warm and welcoming place, where no one has to dress a certain way or be a certain way. It is a place where we hope all can experience God’s unconditional love and enter into a caring community of people who support each other as we try to live the way Jesus of Nazareth taught: growing in our relationship with God and reaching out to the least, the lost and the last with the non-judgmental, accepting love of God.

There are two worship times each week: a traditional service on Sunday morning at 10:45 in our lovely sanctuary. There, you will experience great music, a message based in Scripture and liturgy that aims to help us experience God’s presence deeply. On Wednesday evening, we worship together in a casual - contemporary - interactive - contemplative service.  It begins in the Fellowship Hall at 6:00 p.m..
